The Sunday Morning Talk Shows

It figures Schieffer will talk about steroids. Two years on for Iraq and Terri Schindler Schiavo look like the big ones, and biased retrospectives tend toward tediousness.

Meet the Press (NBC): Host Tim Russert will talk to General Richard Myers, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. It's been two years since the liberation of Iraq commenced. (If Myers hints at stepping down, word on the street is that Marine four-star General Pete Pace will replace him. General Pace would be the first Marine to thusly serve.)

FOX News Sunday: Host Chris Wallace talks with Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld about Iraq and Florida's Republican Senator Mel Martinez about Terri Schindler-Schiavo.

Face the Nation (CBS): Host Bob Schieffer will have words with Myers, Chairman Tom Davis of the House Government Reform (Steroids) Committee, and MLB executive VP Bob Manfred.

This Week (ABC): Host George Stephanopoulos interviews John McCain, Gerry Adams of Sinn Fein/IRA, and Rumsfeld.

Late Edition (CNN): Host Wolfgang Blitzer is scheduled to chat with Senators John Sununu (R-New Hampshire) and Carl Levin (D-Michigan), no doubt about Schindler-Schiavo, as Levin was one of the main Senatorial proponents of her starvation. And his usual cast of thousands.

I'll watch and review the shows, posting the results here on RedState tomorrow afternoon.

McCain is back by trader52

Sen. John McCain begins a new streak Sunday after missing last Sunday's talk shows. His old streak ended after 428 consecutive weeks posing as a Republican.

Pick of the Week... by Esoteric

...is Fox News Sunday, this time.  (I always do this little Sunday-Show-Deathmatch exercise when you post your preview, Mark.)  Simply because whenever Rumsfeld deigns to descend like Thor from his mighty cloud and deal out lightning bolts of withering derision to the peons of the press, it makes for entertaining political theatre.  Nobody does the "why do I have to listen to these prating morons?" act quite like Rumsfeld.

Additionally, I haven't seen much - if any - of Mel Martinez on the Sunday shows since his Senate victory, so I'm interested in gauging his PR mettle.  Am I correct in thinking this is his first post-election weekend appearance?  I catch most of the shows (except Late Edition) regularly, and don't recall seeing him.

I agree that Rumsfeld... by Mark Kilmer

...is a special kind of joy to watch.

While there is a chance that Russert had Martinez on last year with an election preview, this is his first since the election.Mp>

He has his first real breakout issue, with Terri Schindler-Schiavo.
