Reid introduces bill to protect Internet

I have to get some more informed opinions on this, but Harry Reid has introduced a bill in the Senate to specifically exempt (as opposed to the original approach of simply omitting) the Internet from the clutches of BCRA. If this will work - we need to work on finding some Republican co-sponsors for it. Paging Tom Tancredo...
Update [2005-3-18 15:20:33 by krempasky]: Just spoke to some friends in the Senate - a correction, Harry Reid did NOT introduce this bill yet, it's just being circulated in the Senate. (noting, of course, the conspicious absence of a resolution number) Regardless, this draft shows a lot of promise.

It seems like John Thune would be a natural to recognize the importance of the contributions made by those on the internet.

... to the Internet is awkward folly at best, intellectually repugnant at worst. They should quantify us before they can qualify us, and they can now do neither.
I wish they'd find a way to regulate the act of putting a sign in one's yard as an endorsement counting against BCRA.

. . . has a bit more information on this, including PDF's of the bill, and of Senator Reid's letter to FEC Chairman Scott Thomas. If anybody's interested, I've got form letters posted on my blog (www.philippics.blogspot.com) that you can copy and send to your Senators asking them to co-sponsor the bill, and to your Representatives asking them to introduce a House version.
